Transform Your Home with a Buzzing Bee Theme

The Bee Theme has been my Summer look for a few years now. It started as “Summer is Buzzing” with black and green using what I already had on hand. I built on it each year, first as “Summer Bee’s Knees” with a late summer update, and then changed to black and yellow in “Bee Happy”. I also varied the placement of the elements each year, and now I am introducing large black river rocks for a fresh new look!

From the Foyer, you see the theme looking into the Dining Room and also into the Living room.

In the Dining Room, the river rocks sit on a matte black charger as a base for the honeycomb orb and a brass bee. These are staged between the candlesticks and the Hurricane candleholder centerpiece. (this has been discontinued but here is a similar option) The William-Sonoma bee pattern table runner unifies the individual elements down the center of the table. In the corner of the room sits a beautiful Mckenzie-Childs tiered tray table with a smaller hurricane candleholder. The bees and river rock make another appearance in the Kitchen and casual eating area as well. Large DV Kap bee pillows are stacked on the backless couch providing a comfy spot to take in the view! At least that is what my cat Strider says.

In the Great Room, bees show up on the fireplace mantel, ottoman table, more pillows, entertainment armoire, and the back of one chair itself!

Little touches of the theme show up again in the guest bath.

More bees and black river rocks are sprinkled throughout the Living Room. I try to repeat the various and unique elements throughout the spaces.

Let me know what you think about the addition of the river rocks. I wonder what I will change next year, do you?

Whatever look or theme you may have in your home, I hope you are inspired to make some changes to keep it fresh or try something entirely new for a season!
