I usually enjoy my Christmas decor for an additional week after the New Year and then take it all down. I then decorate for our annual February formal dinner party. Each year I choose a country to focus the theme on their Mardi Gras traditions, food, wine, and music. For an example, see my previous blog articles Venetian Carnevale and Fasching Party. Due to some health issues, we had to cancel the party. I didn’t have the energy to take down the Christmas decor and transition to an entirely new look, so I made the decision to simplify the peacock look for Winter and early Spring. I also hired a friend to help me with the work and putting things away.
For those who love peacocks, this will give you an idea of how you can use peacocks in your decor for any season! See Peacock Christmas for before and after comparisons.
After removing the Christmas tree and garlands, I took away the cone trees and ornaments throughout the home. I then brought back in some of my regular decor elements to the fireplace mantels.
I split the feathers and beaded sprays from the tree topper into two arrangements, one for the Great Room and the other for the Living Room. I left the beaded garland in place on the mantels, but it could easily be removed for a cleaner look, depending on the season. Before Tree topper:

Note: You may notice the mirror above the Great Room mantel is new since the Christmas look. Since buying the home in 2015, I have searched for the right mirror for this location – considering size, level of formality, and reflectivity. The gold antiqued treatment softens the reflection and the simple black metal edge and large clavos (nailheads) are reminiscent of the front door to the home. When I saw this mirror I knew it was the one! You can find it at LuxeDecor.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how peacocks are not just for Christmas! So as not to tire of peacocks, I will transition early to my summer look. Be sure to check back soon for yet another revision of the Bee theme!
